A local art institution is celebrating its platinum anniversary, and the festivities began March 26 with an opening reception for Seventy Years of Inspiration: The Story of the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Curated by Victor Gonzales, curator of exhibitions and collections, and assistant curator Abby Kinsey, the display offers "a visual journey through the museum’s rich history," beginning with its founding in 1956 as the Cunningham Memorial Art Gallery.
