Thursday was memorable for all the wrong reasons after two 18-year-olds just hours from graduation crashed on a motorcycle at high speed in a suspected DUI in northeast Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said neither was wearing a helmet when the motorcycle went down mid-afternoon near Panorama Drive and Union Avenue, sending the passenger down an embankment. The agency cited speed and impairment as possible factors in the crash.
