A pedestrian was hospitalized with major injuries Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle at about 10:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Golden State Avenue, the Bakersfield Police Department said in a news release.

It said the unidentified man entered the roadway headed south outside a marked crosswalk and was hit by a white Toyota hatchback traveling west after exiting Garces Circle.
