Bakersfield College receives state grant to hire students to work with local agencies, nonprofits

A $3.2 million state grant awarded to Bakersfield College will put local students to work helping educate young people and distributing food, among other activities, while they earn money for school.

The three-year grant from the Office of the Governor’s California Volunteers College Program aims to instill leadership skills and strengthen the state’s civic health. A side benefit will be the provision of community services.
