Vista Continuation High School in central Bakersfield moved closer to demolition and expanded reconstruction this month after the project’s draft environmental review cleared a key regulatory hurdle.
The Kern High School District wants to rebuild the school at a cost of $38 million to accommodate a gradual enrollment increase expected to more than double the student population on campus. Work is planned to start in August and finish no more than two years later.
