Mercy Hospital President and CEO Simon Ratliff thanked dozens of individuals and groups at Thursday's event. Ratliff said they were instrumental in making it possible to conceive of and develop the Thomas M. Hardt Tower, which was described as a world-class addition to the Mercy Southwest campus.
"I'm just so thankful for our community who give their time, their resources, and their energy to make sure that as our community grows, we collectively are well placed to continue serving well into the future," said BJ Predum, president of Dignity Health’s Central Valley market in California.

Close to 200 people attended Mercy Hospital Southwest’s dedication Thursday of the new Thomas M. Hardt Tower.
"We started with a vision of excellence, quality and service for Kern County, and now it's become a reality," said Julie Sprengel, president of the California region of Common Spirit, Dignity Health's parent company.
The gleaming-new four-story Thomas M. Hardt Tower stood tall behind him as Mercy Hospital President and CEO Simon Ratliff began his remarks at the tower’s dedication Thursday at Mercy Hospital Southwest.
“So my wife recently asked me what I wanted for Christmas,” Ratliff said, drawing laughter from nearly 200 in attendance.
