The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved a $4.5 billion budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year Tuesday. Faced with financial uncertainty at the state and federal levels, the county’s budget was only increased by $75 million, or 1.7%.

Stressing stability in a time of economic uncertainty, on Tuesday the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved a $4.5 billion budget focused on maintaining core services.

“I think this budget is sound and despite Sacramento and Washington, we have saved, we’re going to protect vital services,” said District 3 Supervisor Jeff Flores.
